Neighbors Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative operating as an association dedicated to "people helping people.” A handful of educators started Baton Rouge Teachers in 1954 with a shoebox, a couple hundred dollars and the goal of making financial services available to school system employees in our area.
Now, Neighbors Federal Credit Union is the largest community chartered credit union in the state of Louisiana with over 60,000 members and $600 million in assets. Since that time, Neighbors has undergone a variety of changes but the mission has stayed the same: Enhance members' financial well-being and be a partner in the communities Neighbors serves.
At Neighbors, members pool deposits and then they are loaned out to other members. When a bank makes a profit, it goes to their shareholders. As a credit union, the profit is returned to you, the members. This means that we can pay higher dividends on your savings and offer loans at rates consistently among the lowest in the area.
Neighbors offers the same services available at large national banks including checking, savings, auto, credit card, and mortgage products. We can even help with Investment Services or Business solutions to paint a clearer picture of your financial future. Deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration and we take pride in being a safe, secure, locally-operated institution. Neighbors' success is due to an unwavering commitment to always be there with the best products, the best service, and best solutions to meet all of your financial service needs.
