People are used to receiving an overview of their social security benefits in the mail, but due to budget constraints Social Security has taken steps to go paperless and make statements available online. The new site allows people to view their statements, view their taxable earnings and estimate retirement, disability and survivor benefits.
To set up your account you will need to be able to verify your identity by answering questions based on information pulled from your Experian credit bureau report as well as your personal information like Social Security number, current address and birth date. You will be able to verify your information and report and resolve any errors.
Take a moment and visit the website, www.ssa.gov/mystatement/, to set up your account and check out the calculations to see what your payments would be depending on the age you select for retirement!
