Neighbors Offers A Helping Hand This Christmas
As a part of our mission of community service, Neighbors staff came together to make this holiday season special for a few families in the Baton Rouge area. Working with Catholic Charities, Neighbors Federal Credit Union adopted four less fortunate families in hopes of making this holiday season one they would never forget.
It started in early December with a staff fundraising drive where Neighbors employees put together over $1,400 with the credit union chipping putting in an additional thousand to make our total $2,500. Then management was divided into four groups with each team getting a shopping list which consisted of a single parent and three children with various ages from 2 to 17. Employees took the morning of December 18th to hit area stores in search of gifts ranging from household items to children’s toys. Staff reconvened around noon for lunch and a gift wrapping session before heading out to deliver the gifts to each of the families that afternoon.
At day’s end, there was positive impact on everyone involved. "I think one of the major takeaways from this event was how much fun the whole experience was for the staff,” said Brett Reynolds, VP Marketing. "I think it was a great project that made this Christmas something special, not only for the families, but for our staff as well.”
