Neighbors Expands Mascot Checking Program to St. Helena Parish

St. Helena College & Career Academy is the newest school to join the Mascot Checking Program at Neighbors FCU. Neighbors joins other businesses such as Papa Johns, PJ’s, and Otis Spunkmeyer in entering the school to provide opportunities for students in the rural school district. In partnership with Superintendent Dr. Kelli Joseph, Neighbors is excited to help spur economic development in the community. The addition of St. Helena College & Career academy marks the expansion of the Mascot program outside of EBR, WBR, and Livingston into a rural parish.

The Mascot program was created in 2014 to provide discretionary funds to schools by introducing a student checking account program. Participating schools are incentivized to promote their free, school-branded Mascot Visa debit card and receive funds directly back to the school based on swipes. Mascot schools with less than 100 accounts receive 5 cents back per swipe, while schools with over 100 accounts receive 10 cents back per swipe. The program currently has 15 participating schools located in EBR, WBR, and Livingston parish.

To date, the Mascot Checking Program has generated over $300,000 for participating schools.
