About Neighbors Capital Area Foundation
This is what neighbors do for each other.
Our Foundation is committed to being a positive force in Greater Baton Rouge. We provide funds for schools, scholarships for students, volunteers for worthy causes, and constantly seek ways to strengthen local communities.
The Neighbors Capital Area Foundation is our opportunity to give back through education initiatives and organization-wide volunteer efforts. As the Foundation grows, we look forward to seeing the continued impact we can have on the communities we serve.

Project Grants for Public Schools
This grant program allows public schools in Neighbors nine-parish service to apply for funding for a specific project or resource within the school.
Neighbors Way Tuition Assistance Award
The Neighbors Way Tuition Assistance Award helps cover tuition costs for first-year college students. Each year, the 15 schools that participate in the Neighbors Mascot Checking Program are invited to nominate one graduating senior to receive a scholarship.
- Students are nominated based on their character and commitment to living the “Neighbors Way.” Nominees should exemplify the credit union’s core values - integrity, respect, trust, stability, community involvement, honesty, empathy, ethical behavior, and fairness.
- Funds are raised through three major avenues – the internal Employee Payroll Donation Program; the Foundation’s annual fundraiser, Clays for a Cause; and NFCU’s Free Cash Back Checking account, which provides three cents to the Foundation for every qualified debit card purchase.
- The remainder of the funds are generated from miscellaneous fundraisers and direct contributions from Neighbors Federal Credit Union.
- To date, we have awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to 82 students in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

Neighbors Day
Each October, Neighbors FCU's 250 employees gather for Neighbors Day – a day of community service in Greater Baton Rouge. Employee volunteers partner with over a dozen organizations to in the region to contribute more than 1,000 hours of service to the community.
Neighbors Day was established after the Great Flood of 2016. Countless employees and members were deeply affected.
Credit union staff members went out into the community to support their neighbors in need, leaving a lasting impression. An annual day of service was established in their honor.
The mission of Neighbors Day is to provide much-needed assistance to those in need and also to inspire others in Baton Rouge to give back to the community.
Clays for a Cause
We invite our friends and neighbors to take their best shot. On October 18, 2024, the Foundation will host its 11th annual Clays for a Cause sport shooting tournament, with proceeds benefiting the Neighbors Way Tuition Assistance Award.
Neighbors Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution with branches serving the Southeast Louisiana parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
