Who We Are
Our Purpose: To Build Relationships That Matter.
And we've been doing it since 1954, when five teachers started with $150 in a shoe box.
Committed to you and all members
Rooted in Southeast Louisiana
Invested in our communities
Providing good value and fair rates
Always focused on your financial needs
Humble beginnings, proud legacy
It all started in March 1954 when a handful of local teachers pooled a modest amount of money and chartered Baton Rouge Teachers Federal Credit Union. The goal was to support each other with low-cost loans and personalized service. More than a decade passed before the first office opened on South Foster Drive where one full-time employee and two part-time employees worked.
In the decades since, that credit union has changed names to Neighbors FCU and grown to more than over 80,000 members with over $1 billion in assets. But what will never change is our commitment to excellent service and accounts that help members reach their financial goals.
Neighbors Capital Area Foundation
Neighbors FCU created the Neighbors Capital Area Foundation to financially support area non-profit organizations making a positive impact in our communities. Read more about all the Foundation's initiatives.
Neighbors Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution with branches serving the Southeast Louisiana parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
